Roadblocks on the recovery journey: How to get around post-acute withdrawal

Unlike acute withdrawal, which generally lasts for a few days to a few weeks depending on the substance, PAWS can last for an extended period of time, complicating your recovery process and increasing your risk of return to use. For this reason, PAWS can be challenging for people who have decided to quit, or moderate, their use of substances.

Psychotherapy can support you through post-acute withdrawal, helping you stay on track with your wellness goals.

Spirituality, religion, and psychotherapy

In my practice I respect each individual’s (and family’s) faith background, which is unique, meaningful, and very personal. I will make space for you to explore and develop the meaning of your spiritual beliefs and values, and religious practices, as the need or desire to do so unfolds in our work together. I won’t frame our work together with a particular spiritual or religious position, instead I will remain curious as you define yours.

Drugs, sex, and regret – What next?

Whether it’s sex, drugs, or (fill in the blank), I want to understand where you’re coming from, talk to you about the real risks you face, and problem-solve with you about how to get where you want to go.
